Question:
My job has me eating out five days a week and traveling one
weekend a month. I am doing all that I can but the weight
is not coming off. What do I order? Where do I go out and
eat? Can you help me?
Answer:
While eating out can be challenging at times, there are some
items that are usually safe to order. However, be prepared
to ask your server questions about how the dish is cooked
and if it is smothered in oil, cheese or sauce.
Here
are a few tips:
Order grilled chicken or fish, sauce on the side, and ask
for extra vegetables instead of rice or a potato. Skip the
bread and butter! If you order a salad, stay away from creamy
dressings. Substitute with Italian or a vinegarette. Stick
to clear broth based soups over creamy ones. There are usually
several different chicken or fish dishes - try a variety to
keep from getting bored. If you must have red meat, stick
to sirloin, it has the least amount of fat. Lastly, skip dessert,
if you are still hungry, drink water, coffee or flavored herbal
tea. If that doesn't satisfy you, order a fruit bowl.
