A
Positive Attitude
Can Determine Your Altitude In Life

There
is very little difference in people, but that little difference
makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude.
The big difference is whether it's positive or negative.
With
a positive attitude you can do, have and be
everything you want in life! If motivation had a best friend
it would be attitude. Having a motive for why you are doing
what you are doing is intensified with a positive attitude.
The late Dr. Albert Schweitzer said it best; "The greatest
discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter
their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds."
Get
excited about your goal and the journey! A positive attitude
or outlook on life, can lead to positive behavior and create
success. Motivation will help to push you, but your attitude
is what will lead you to success. Consider the following tips
for maintaining a positive attitude:
- Think
of yourself as a success.
- Remind
yourself of past successes (reflect).
- Don't
dwell on failures, evaluate what happened and adjust future
actions to get the desired result.
- Surround
yourself with positive people and ideas.
Who's
in your environment?
An upbeat, positive person draws other people like a magnet.
After all, who would you rather be around --someone who is
strong and motivated, with the confidence to keep moving forward;
or, someone who stays stuck in one place, thinking of reasons
why things don't seem to happen? No contest!
Take
a hard look at your environment and decide right now how you
are going to allow it to affect you. Being motivated is a
plus in your efforts to release fat and create health, however,
your environment may be the very thing that causes you to
deviate from achieving success.
Darla's
Story
All too often we at Wellness Weight-Loss will have a client
who has a positive attitude, but his or her work environment
is the exact opposite of the life he or she wants to lead.
For example, Darla explained to us that at her work, everyone
is stressed. Each day that Darla arrives at work she is welcomed
by either a dozen donuts or bagels with cream cheese. When
she passes them up, not an hour goes by before one of her
coworkers offers her a tasty-treat that's full of fat and
processed sugar. This continues for most of the day.
It
is apparent that Darla's work environment does not support
her goal to release fat and to eat healthy. Her lack of support
doesn't disappear when she leaves work. When Darla arrives
home, her sister and parents eat foods that are high in calories
and unhealthy. Her family picks at Darla by making negative
comments about what she eats, and no one in her family supports
her endeavor to release fat.
We
expressed our concern to Darla, for what she is up against
is no easy task. It is our belief that either her family and/or
coworkers will influence her or she will influence them. Recovering
alcoholics face this issue all to often, and in the early
stages of recovery, they often alter their environment with
people who will support their decision to no longer drink.
Many refrain from bars and parties until they have control
of their new lifestyle.
Recommendation
Until you are strong enough internally and your new habits
become part of your lifestyle, we suggest you choose your
environments carefully and expect opposition. All too often
people are disappointed when those closest to them attempt
to sabatage their success. Remember, it is your decision to
succeed that counts and no one else has the power to sabatage
you. You are in charge of your life. Make a decision to improve
the quality of your life, program your mind with a positive
attitude and enjoy the journey! You will be surprised who
you influence in the process.
