If
you didn't know . . .
Born on October 14th, 1968, Halle Berry is one of the few models-turned-actresses
to have earned respect in Hollywood. Her first TV series was 1989's
Living Dolls and soon afterwards she starred in the movies Jungle
Fever and Boomerang. However, it was her role in the movie Losing
Isiah that secured her place as a star. Currently she is a spokeswoman
for Revlon and recently won an Oscar for her role in Monster's Ball.
While this
Oscar winner and Revlon spokes model may be in the best shape of
her life, she owes at least part of her current state of optimum
health to a 1989 health scare. While working on the short-lived
sitcom, Living Dolls, Berry collapsed and subsequently fell into
a coma due to complications from diabetes. Ever since, she has kept
her disease-and overall health-in check by controlling stress, maintaining
a healthy diet and, of curse, exercising regularly.
Halle Berry
is a celebrity that deserves public recognition not just for her
work as an actress, but for her demonstration of putting health
and fitness as a priority. We doubt if you will soon here about
Halle eating Big Macs and French fries, however, like everyone else,
she has her rare splurges. Butter Pecan just happens to be one of
her favorite unhealthy treats.
MORE ON
HALLE
Workout: Halle is a believer and connoisseur of resistance training.
She incorporates both machines and light dumbbells. For those who
don't know what we mean by resistance training-Halle lifts weights
regularly. When Halle is not lifting weights she is on a treadmill
getting her cardiovascular workout or engaged in some intense Pilates.
Nutrition:
Halle eats healthy all the time. It is definitely a major component
of her lifestyle.
Rest:
You can't work all the time and when Halle wants to relax or go
on a spiritual retreat she likes to go to the beach to find some
peace and unwind. She also gets eight hours of sleep each night
and this is one of her secrets for healthy-looking skin.
WHO IS
HALLE BERRY?
Her mother Judith, a psychiatric ward nurse, with her older sister
Heidi, raised Halle Maria Berry. Judith's husband, Halle's father
walked out of their lives when she was only four years old.
Halle Berry is the epitome of beauty and talent. Her incredible
charm, charisma, glow, and unbelievable good looks can make any
man weep for more of this enchanting young actress. She initially
struggled up the Hollywood food chain, but she is now a shark that
has also become very well respected by her peers.
Though it
took a while for Hollywood to wake up to her talents, when it did,
Halle embraced it with dignity and modesty, even though she had
all the reasons in the world to have a chip on her shoulder. Her
win at the 2000 Golden Globes for her powerful performance in Introducing
Dorothy Dandridge, was not only well-deserved, but also an introspective
look into the character of one of Hollywood's brightest stars. She
proves that beauty and intelligence can go hand in hand.
She has starred
in such movies as Boomerang, Bullworth, The Flintstones, Introducing
Dorothy Dandridge, X-Men, Swordfish and of course, Monster's Ball.
It would be
inaccurate to say that Halle Berry is a model-turned-actress as
that would imply that she has given up her modeling career in order
to pursue Hollywood-style success. As a spokes model for Revlon
and more magazine covers than can easily be counted, her modeling
career is still thriving, even while she earned a Golden Globe in
2000 for her work in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and an Oscar
in 2002. And as the driving force for one of her latest projects,
Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, for HBO proves that there's much
to her than just looks. She surprised Hollywood when she proved
she could act...what other surprises does this lovely lady still
have up her sleeve? GUESS WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AN SEE.
Thanks Halle
for walking the walk, and leading a wellness lifestyle that we can
all appreciate.
