Why Detox? Part 3 of 5

Who doesn’t want fast weight loss? For years people would walk into our clinic and say things like, “I want this to be a lifestyle and I want to be healthier, but I would rather lose some weight fast and worry about being healthy afterward." I totally understand. It's more exciting to lose 10 pounds in the beginning than to be accept the healthy standard of 2 to 3 pounds. Knowing this I asked myself, "Can people have their cake and eat it too?" Yes, and it's called the Detox Drop.

The Beginning
Over 10 years ago my wife and I took the best of what we understood about wellness and combined it with healthful weight loss. Matter of fact, before we named our business Diet Free Life, it was Wellness Weight-Loss. [Photo of Brittany Anderson who went from 183 to 138 pounds]

Acknowledging the reality that it would be great to help people get off to a great start as well as provide a program for when they hit a plateau - we went to work to create something that would work and not interfere with the integrity of our approach to weight loss. Not until I started working with elite level professional athletes, specifically boxers who had to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time and still be strong did I have urgency in developing such a program.

Like many people, professional boxers are often in a situation where they need to lose a lot of weight without feeling weak. So, we fused together our natural detox and cleanse along with the right amount of protein and carbohydrates to make it possible to lose 11 pounds in six days and not feel weak and lethargic. Today this program is called the Detox Drop.

Real Fat Loss
Over the years we have monitored a person’s success with the Detox Drop by keeping a close eye on what type of weight they lose. Using body composition analysis as our method for measuring progress, we would establish a baseline with each client that did the Detox Drop and when done, we would conduct another body composition analysis. The goal was to continue to tweak the fruits, smoothie recipes and finalize what would be the ideal range of protein powder and fiber consumed during the 3-Day or 6-Day Plan of the Detox Drop so that the majority of the weight loss is fat and not merely water. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Not a Typical Detox
When you mention the word “DETOX” you will have some doctors, registered dieticians and nutritionist respond negatively. The reason for this is that they’re most likely thinking that it’s a hoax. Most detox or cleanse programs that promise weight loss aren't balanced with the right amount of protein, carbohydrates and calories. Most are extremely low in protein, carbs and calories, which means you, are more likely to lose water weight and lean muscle tissue – slowing your metabolism and racking havoc on your ability to maximize fat loss. This is not the case with the Detox Drop.

What? 25 lbs. in 6 Days
We have had men lose as much as 25 pounds after the 6 Day Detox Drop and women, 18. Each person is different, but what is uniquely apparent with most that do the Detox Drop is that they’re a pant and dress size smaller and the weight loss is sustainable. You're not hungry. You're not walking around with low levels of energy. If anything, you are recharging your mind, body and spirit.

Why Detox? Part 2 of 5

We left off with a short introduction to the benefits of the Detox Drop on your LIVER and now we shift to the COLON. Why? To only cleanse the liver would not be enough. At the very least you want to take a double-action approach can cleanse both the liver and the colon.

If for instance, you only cleanse the liver, you would indeed remove some of the toxins and waste products including drug residues from pharmaceutical products you have taken over the years from your liver, but guess what? Your colon needs cleansing also.

The way I look at it is that to cleanse and detoxify your LIVER is like making over your kitchen. You may have the new cabinets, pantry, counter tops and appliances -- But, imagine after all you have gone through to make over your kitchen – you don’t take out the garbage or sweep the kitchen floor?  I’m sure you’d agree that it only makes sense to take out the garbage and sweep the kitchen floor, and that’s why we want to cleanse our colons as well.  

With the Detox Drop you are also cleansing and detoxifying your colon. See, over time, as our colon ages, the colon has a harder time doing its job, and the entire digestive process can be thrown off by any number of little things. By cleansing and detoxifying your colon you give it the chance to rebuild itself, and return to proper functioning.

By cleansing and detoxifying, you help break up and remove impacted waste, eliminate toxins, mucous, and parasites from your colon. And if you are not sure if you could benefit from cleansing and detoxifying your colon – aside from helping to boost your metabolism and reduce your waistline – consider such symptoms of an impacted colon as:

  • Fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Gas and bloating
  • Frequent infections (such as colds and flu’s)
  • Skin problems (such as acne and eczema)

  • And Diverticulitis

In addition to the relief of benefits that come about because of colon cleansing – regular colon cleansing aids in helping waste pass quickly and efficiently through the system, preventing or alleviating the development of constipation.

When people ask me why so much focus on the colon, I simply share with them that by cleansing and detoxifying your colon you can improve so many conditions because your colon is the center of your health. Everything you eat comes in through your mouth and has to pass through the colon. If your digestive process is not working well, it has an impact on the entire body.

In part 3 of this 5 part series I’ll be sharing insight into how I’ve used the Detox Drop to help elite professional boxers lose large amounts of weight without losing strength. As well, you will learn why the Detox Drop is a way to lose weight healthfully.

Why Detox? Part 1 of 5

I created the Detox Drop for five main reasons: jump start healthy FAT LOSS, rid your body of POLLUTANTS AND PARASITES, boost IMMUNE system and detoxify the LIVER and COLON. In this five-part series I want to share insight with you on these key reasons beginning with the liver.

An Unhealthy Liver
An unhealthy liver can be the cause of numerous chronic illnesses and disorders to include serious fatigue, weight gain, water retention, and a host of other health woes -- whereas a healthy liver equates to an increase in energy, accelerated metabolism, and helps you burn off excess fat.

You may be surprised to know that the liver is one of the most neglected and disregarded organs in our body. Yet, it is vital in the process of protecting us from the toxins we are confronted with everyday. DID YOU KNOW that the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that half-a-million chemicals are in use today, and over five thousand new chemicals are introduced yearly?

In today’s world, our liver – all of our organs, in fact – are at great risk of contamination from environmental toxins and over-processed foods infused with many unnatural chemicals. And because we live in our environment, unless we stop breathing and wear a protective suit – the best way to protect ourselves is to take care of ourselves. And that includes taking the time to cleanse the organ that cleanses our body so that we can not only be lean and healthy on the outside, but also on the inside.

Most people know that our skin is our body’s largest organ. Well, what do you think is the largest internal organ in the human body? You guessed right. Weighing in at 3 to 4 pounds on the scale, the liver is the largest internal organ in the human body.

This complex and unique organ not only makes up a significant part of our lean body mass – it serves hundreds of functions that are crucial to sustaining life. From filtering our blood to purifying and clearing waste products, toxins, and drugs to metabolizing fats, proteins and carbohydrates… the liver is The Great Chemical Factory that is constantly processing blood for use by the rest of our body.

To cleanse and detoxify your liver is one of the most powerful procedures you can do to enhance your body’s overall performance. And as a result of tuning up your liver, you can significantly improve digestion, regularity, food transit time, and energy levels, which is the basis of your health.
